Camilla Belich to the Minister for the Public Service: What pilot programmes, if any, have been initiated by any departments or agencies for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, and what were their commencement dates, durations, funding sources and amounts, objectives, and current status?

Hon Judith Collins: The Public Service Commission, in partnership with Institute of Directors, launched a pilot programme to support the appointment of Future Directors to Crown boards. The programme started in July 2023 and is due to finish November 2025 when the last candidate finishes their term on the board. No funding was set for the programme. The programme was co-ordinated within existing Public Service Commission resource. The objective of the programme was to establish an approach to growing a future pipeline of directors for Crown boards. Three future directors were appointed to Crown boards through the pilot programme. While the pilot programme will not continue due to other priorities, the Public Service Commission is playing an active role, working with appointing agencies, to strengthen capability onto Crown boards. Also, last month, the Public Service Commission, alongside the New Zealand Police, announced it will be supporting the Anti-Corruption Taskforce Pilot led by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
