39127 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (January to March 2024) to ‘Implement routine monitoring of workforce needs assessment across the cancer continuum’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during this quarter (January to March 2024) the Cancer Control Agency - Te Aho o Te Kahu and Health New Zealand continued to collaborate to ensure the health system’s workforce needs to deliver sustainable, high-quality cancer services are planned for and met through the Health Workforce Plan 2024/25 and subsequent workforce plans. Cancer Control Agency also continues to work closely with Health New Zealand to inform workforce decisions. Current work includes supply and demand modelling for cancer nursing workforce.
