Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (January to March 2024) to ‘Develop a detailed cancer data and information plan’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that progress has continued this quarter (January to March 2024) in the ongoing development of CanShare with deliveries including the coding of a wide range of cancer data, development of an information model to allow sharing of data, discussions underway with Health New Zealand for the delivery of information technology infrastructure, and the initiation of a proof of concept to test assumptions and the technical delivery of national near real-time data sharing.
