Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 on the recommended focus area ‘Te Aho o Te Kahu to continue to build and maintain strong networks and relationships with a range of stakeholders, to seek advice and insights that inform direction setting for future cancer treatment and care’ under ‘System-wide solution 2: National system leadership’ in the Cancer Control Agency ’Cancer Services Planning’ document?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the Cancer Control Agency - Te Aho o Te Kahu has a commitment to ensure wide engagement, and to work in partnership across the health sector as the strategic direction for sector wide solutions to improve outcomes for cancer patients is set. Numerous stakeholder engagements have occurred over this quarter spanning national and international contacts, government agencies, and NGOs. During this quarter Cancer Control Agency continued to work closely with Health New Zealand to stand up a Cancer Clinical Network which will bring together both strategic and operational leadership to achieve the progressive implementation of the Cancer Service Planning Models of Care and other service improvement initiatives.
