39018 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister for Courts: Will there be a reduction in the number of District Court Judges (including temporary judges) as a result of the reduction in District Court Judges' Salaries and Allowances PLA (M19) (A23) from $104,821,000 to $102,635,000?

Hon Nicole McKee: I am advised the decrease in this appropriation for 2024/25 is mainly due to a time-limited increase of $2.060 million in 2023/24 to allow for acting Judges to cover for District Court Judges on leave, as indicated by the rise in sitting days for acting Judges. Any increased or decreased use of acting Judges to cover for District Court Judges who are on leave, will be reflected in the appropriation.
