Hon Casey Costello: As the Minister of Customs, I am regularly briefed on matters related to New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) operational activities. To ensure I am fully informed, I receive verbal briefings on a range of matters during fortnightly meetings with senior Customs officials and through the Weekly Report to the Minister of Customs. These briefings cover a wide range of topics, including transnational organised crime groups smuggling drugs across the Pacific Ocean. In addition to these regular briefings, I have also received formal written advice about transnational organised crime groups smuggling illicit drugs across the Pacific Ocean. I refer the Member to the attached table which provides a breakdown of this advice, broken down by title and date received.
