39006 (2026). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Food Safety: What assessment, if any, has he made of the two new levies approved by Cabinet in 2024 under the Food Act 2014 on small businesses?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I have asked the Ministry for Primary Industries to prioritise a review of the levies and explore alternative levy models that result in a fairer more cost-effective levy, with the intention of consulting on options in 2027, and to inform the statutory review of Food Act 2014 cost recovery required at least every three years.
