Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology: How much was the total cost in New Zealand dollar terms, if any, of redundancy processes initiated, if any, in the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, since 27 November 2023?

Hon Penny Simmonds: As Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, I have no responsibility for any government departments. With regard to agencies, Crown entities and other bodies under the Science, Innovation and Technology portfolio, I am advised that a total of $29,004,767 has been spent on redundancy processes initiated since 27 November 2023. Please note that the Bioeconomy Science Institute has only been able to provide data from its formation on 1 July 2025.
