Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does the Minister agree with Mental Health Foundation chief executive Shaun Robinson that the government should have a detailed Implementation Plan to address worsening youth mental health; and if so, what, if anything, is he doing to address this?

Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that In establishing the mental health portfolio, the Government has recognised the importance of effectively responding to the mental health needs of all New Zealanders, including the need to address the worsening levels of mental distress amongst youth. I will share more information about my key priorities for the portfolio, which include responding to the Office of the Auditor-General’s report on the mental health needs of young New Zealanders, in due course.
