38851 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Health: How much, if any, was spent in the 2024/25 financial year in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, on artificial intelligence, including costs on training staff, deploying systems, maintaining subscriptions and any other associated costs?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that in the 2024/25 financial year, the Ministry of Health approved and purchased subscriptions for one artificial intelligence tool with a total annual cost of $178,321.50 excluding GST. Health New Zealand's spend for the same period was $180,000 excluding GST.
