38628 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery: How much, if any, was spent in the 2025/26 financial year in the Minister's departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, on artificial intelligence, including costs on training staff, deploying systems, maintaining subscriptions and any other associated costs?
Hon Mark Mitchell: The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). NEMA was previously hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) from 27 November 2023 to 24 September 2025. NEMA uses systems, procurement arrangements, and supporting tools provided by the host department. In my capacity as the Minister for Emergency Management and Recovery, I am not the Responsible Minister. The Prime Minister and Minister for Internal Affairs are the respective Responsible Ministers. I therefore refer the Member to the response provided by the Minister of Internal Affairs to PQ 38723 and the response provided by the Prime Minister in PQ 38793.
