38590 (2025). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Customs: What is the total resources, if any, spent by customs, including FTE staff (both frontline and administrative) for controlling imports of cannabis, and how does this compare to the previous five years, broken down by year?
Hon Casey Costello: The New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) is responsible for the interception and seizure of illicit drugs and other prohibited and restricted items at New Zealand’s border, including cannabis and methamphetamine. Resources are not specifically directed to control the importation of any specific drug commodity or other restricted or prohibited items. As such, it is not possible to provide the information you have requested.
