38549 (2025). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister of Conservation: How, if at all, does he define “in locations where that makes sense” for new concessions on Conservation land?

Hon Tama Potaka: The activities which will be permitted in different parts of the conservation estate will be defined through the development of the National Conservation Policy Statement and area plans. Consultation is currently underway with key stakeholders on the draft National Conservation Policy Statement, so definitions are yet to be confirmed. Where activities are not expressly dealt with in the National Conservation Policy Statement and area plans, applications to undertake the activity will continue to be subject to individual assessment by the Department of Conservation.
