38545 (2025). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister of Conservation: What consultation, if any, has he undertaken with local government on the proposed new concessions on Conservation land?

Hon Tama Potaka: In November 2024, the Department of Conservation released a discussion paper – Modernising Conservation Land Management – and sought input from a wide range of different stakeholders. As part of this process, I am advised that nine councils from across the country made submissions. Feedback received during consultation has informed the decisions the Government has made, and will continue to inform future decisions. There will be further opportunities for input on reforms through the Select Committee process once legislation is introduced to the House.
