38527 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What analysis has occurred, if any, on the long-term financial impact on motorists of transitioning the electronic road user charges system to a market-based model run by private providers?

Hon Chris Bishop: Policy design to implement the switch from fuel excise duty to road user charges will occur as part of a future phase of the work programme, and will include consideration of the impact on motorists.
