38504 (2025). Hūhana Lyndon to the Minister of Health: How, if at all, was the Wai 2575 Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry and its recommendations taken into account in the proposed new capitation funding formula?

Hon Simeon Brown: There has been consistent feedback over a long period of time from primary care providers and others on the need to update and revise the capitation formula. That's why our Government is updating the funding method for GP clinics for the first time in more than 20 years as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare, including Māori. I am advised that the issues found by the inquiry are part of the context for updating the way general practice is funded.
