38424 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Prime Minister: How, if at all, are the Minister's departments, if any, currently using AI, and what plans, if any, have been developed to manage the risks associated with AI?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as Prime Minister I am the Responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) including the National Emergency Management Agency, a departmental agency hosted by DPMC. I am advised that DPMC does not currently use GenAI, and is aware of the interim guidance issued by public sector agencies to help public service make informed decisions and manage the risks around the use of GenAI: Interim Generative AI guidance for the public service | NZ Digital government
