38420 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Health: How many of the patients, in the new 20-bed ward of North Shore Hospital, were aged 60 years old or over the age of 60 years old, if any?

Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member will be aware, Health New Zealand established the dedicated ward to help boost capacity in the busy winter period as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare. I am advised that as at 4 August, 138 of the 145 patients who had been admitted to Ward 6 since it opened on 12 May 2025 were 60 years of age or older.
