38418 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Transport: How, if at all, are the Minister's departments, if any, currently using AI, and what plans, if any, have been developed to manage the risks associated with AI?

Hon Simeon Brown: As the Minister of Transport, the only government department or Ministry I am responsible for is the Ministry of Transport. Ministry staff were provided general guidance around the use of browser-based AI tools (such as Copilot in Edge, formerly known as BingChat) in 2023. The Ministry plans to update this guidance later this year.
