38406 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for the Public Service: How, if at all, are the Minister's departments, if any, currently using AI, and what plans, if any, have been developed to manage the risks associated with AI?

Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised that the Public Service Commission does not currently use AI. However, I am also advised that the Government Chief Digital Officer has issued guidance intended to help government agencies better understand the key risks of using GenAI within the New Zealand Public Service, and mitigations, to support them to develop policy, standards and plans for responsibly using GenAI within their agency context.
