38393 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How, if at all, are the Minister's departments, if any, currently using AI, and what plans, if any, have been developed to manage the risks associated with AI?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that the Department has made Microsoft Copilot Chat (aka Bing Chat Enterprise) available to staff to use for work purposes, and has provided information to staff on how to use Copilot Chat safely and effectively. The Department is also currently assessing how to safely explore the use of Artificial Intelligence across its branches and how any risks will be appropriately managed.
