38370 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Children: How, if at all, are the Minister's departments, if any, currently using AI, and what plans, if any, have been developed to manage the risks associated with AI?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that Oranga Tamariki has utilised AI in a limited capacity for technology security. No AI is used in decision-making relating to children. I am advised the use of AI adheres to the Oranga Tamariki information security policy and decisions on the use of AI is based on guidelines from the Government Chief Digital Officer.
