38363 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What advice, if any, did officials provide on the annual increase required to maintain the real value of fuel excise duty, and does the new schedule meet, exceed, or fall short of that figure?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport advised me that, as at 23 June 2026, fuel excise duty would need to be 89 to 90 cents per litre to keep pace with inflation since it was last increased in 2020.
