38361 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What analysis, if any, of recent uncertainty in the Middle East and its effect on domestic fuel prices was provided to Ministers, and by which agency, in support of the reasoning given for the fuel excise decision on 31 August 2026?

Hon Chris Bishop: I have considered a range of analysis from the Ministry for Cities, Environment, Regions and Transport about the impacts of the conflict in the Middle East on fuel prices. These impacts were considered before Cabinet made final decisions on the rates of fuel excise duty on 31 August 2026.
