Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: How does the Government intend to fund the land transport programme in the period between 1 January 2027 and the first increase of fuel excise under the new schedule on 1 January 2028, and what decisions, if any, have been made on that funding?

Hon Chris Bishop: Corrected reply: The National Land Transport Programme will continue to be funded by the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF) in the period the Member has queried. Cabinet agreed to provide a Crown grant to top up the NLTF to account for the cancellation of the 2027 fuel excise duty and road user charges increases.
