Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Transport: What advice, if any, has the Minister of Transport received on the interaction between the new fuel excise duty increase schedule and the planned transition of light vehicles to road user charges, and what is the assumed date of that transition in current revenue forecasts?

Hon Chris Bishop: I have not received advice about the interaction between the planned transition of petrol vehicles to road user charges and the rates of fuel excise duty agreed by Cabinet on 31 August 2026. Decisions on transition dates have not yet been taken.
