38316 (2024). Hūhana Lyndon to the Minister of Health: Are job vacancies intentionally planned to accommodate the influx of graduate nurses entering the workforce; if not, what measures are in place to ensure that nurses trained in New Zealand find employment opportunities and are discouraged from taking their qualifications abroad?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that most graduate nurses are employed into the health system every year via the Advanced Choice of Employment (ACE) process, a supported entry to practice programme. Nursing graduates can also apply for roles outside of ACE.
