Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to WPQ 37765, given the roll-out of a confirmation of payee system will only commence by the end of the year, as the Minister set out in his letter of 29 February 2024, will he support the retroactive application of a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorized payment scams in 2024 who would have otherwise been protected by a confirmation of payee system?

Hon Andrew Bayly: Action currently sits with the banking sector to investigate a voluntary reimbursement scheme. I expect to receive an update by the end of September, as set out in my open letter. I will then consider next steps.
