38301 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister for Infrastructure: What evidence, if any, has the Minister received that his government is delivering “more money for hospitals” as the Minister stated in a Facebook video on 17 June 2024?
Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the Member to Hon Dr Shane Reti’s 30 May 2024 Budget press release. This release accompanies other Budget 2024 documents and details the significant investment the Government has made in Health through Budget 2024 including:
• $103.1 million in capital funding for a central health capital risk contingency pool to enable Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora to manage new cost pressures arising in projects approved in Budget 2022 or earlier.
• $3.44 billion in operating funding for hospital and specialist services over the four year forecast period.
• Pre-commitments against Budget 2025 and Budget 2026 allowances for health cost pressures to ensure that Health New Zealand can plan with confidence and enable continued access to services such as acute care in hospitals.
