38298 (2024). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Auckland: Further to his reply to written question 7245 (2024), what Auckland specific policies, if any, has the Minister developed, released or announced besides the axing of the Auckland regional fuel tax on 30th June 2024, listed by date and title?
Hon Simeon Brown: Individual Ministers are responsible for progressing policies within their portfolios, some of which will be significant for Auckland. For example, the Coalition Government's income tax relief package was progressed under the Revenue portfolio, and the removal of the Regional Fuel Tax was progressed under the Transport portfolio. In the Local Government portfolio, we have delivered the Local Water Done Well plan for Auckland, which has been unanimously endorsed by Auckland Council's Governing Body. This plan has allowed Aucklanders to avoid a significant rise in water rates that were previously projected 25.8 per cent increase while retaining local control of water assets. Another example of the Coalition Government delivering for Auckland is the addition of 21 police officers in Auckland City, which is being progressed under the Police portfolio. As Minister for Auckland, I intend to provide oversight to ensure a whole-of-government approach to Auckland matters.
