38295 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Internal Affairs: Since 27 November 2023, how many staff, if any, at ministries, agencies and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy, and (b) all other forms of redundancy, and of those staff, how many, if any have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same ministry, agency or department, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part time) as at 4 August 2025?
Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that since 27 November 2023, a total of 98 employees have been made redundant, of which 32 were voluntary redundancies. As at 4 August 2025, of those employees, two have subsequently been re-employed by the Department in different positions—one in a fixed-term role and the other in a permanent role. The monthly breakdown is provided in the attached table. Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency): I am advised by Fire and Emergency NZ that seven staff have been made redundant since 27 November 2023, and that none of those individuals have been reappointed to a new role. The monthly breakdown is provided in the attached table. Classification Office: None. Lotto NZ: I am advised by Lotto NZ that four staff have been made redundant since 27 November 2023, and that none of those individuals have been reappointed to a new role. The monthly breakdown is provided in the attached table.
