Published date: 17 Aug 2025
38289 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Housing: Since 27 November 2023, how many staff, if any, at ministries, agencies and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy, and (b) all other forms of redundancy, and of those staff, how many, if any have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same ministry, agency or department, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part time) as at 4 August 2025?
Hon Chris Bishop: I refer the Member to the attached table for a breakdown of staff redundancies, and the reasons, at Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, between 27 November 2023, and 4 August 2025. Between 27 November 2023 and 4 August 2025, one person who had previously been a Kāinga Ora employee and had left by reason of redundancy was subsequently appointed to a new role. Additionally, one person who had previously been a Kāinga Ora employee and had left by reason of redundancy was subsequently hired as a contractor. Both arrangements took place with the appropriate approvals in place.
The number of people made redundant, and the number of previous employees employed or engaged again by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is published annually as part of the Estimates for Vote Housing and Urban Development.
