Camilla Belich to the Minister of Customs: How many staff, if any, made redundant at ministries, agencies and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023 were reappointed either directly (i.e., without a competitive process) or after reapplying through a competitive recruitment process, as at 4 August 2025?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that as at 4 August 2025, no staff members at the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) that have been made redundant since 27 November 2023 have been reappointed, either directly (i.e., without undergoing a competitive process) or through a competitive recruitment process. The Border Executive Board Secretariat staff are employees of Customs. No staff in the Border Executive Board Secretariat team have been made redundant.
