38256 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Corrections: Since 27 November 2023, how many staff, if any, at ministries, agencies and/or departments for which the Minister is responsible have been made redundant, broken down by month and by (a) voluntary redundancy, and (b) all other forms of redundancy, and of those staff, how many, if any have subsequently been appointed to a new role at the same ministry, agency or department, broken down by employment status (contractor, consultant, permanent, part time) as at 4 August 2025?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections considers a person to be made redundant if a staff member’s employment is ultimately terminated and they are paid severance, following the disestablishment of their position. I am further advised that redundancy only occurs where there is no suitable reassignment or redeployment opportunity for the affected staff member within Corrections. I am further advised that there have been four redundancies at Corrections during this timeframe, with one redundancy (voluntary) in January 2025 and three in February 2025. I am also advised that since 27 November 2023, no staff that have received redundancy at Corrections have been re-employed at Corrections. This is also my response to WPQ 38257 (2025).
