Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to WPQ 37400, when the Minister wrote to banks in February 2024 to recommend that they investigate a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorized payment scams, did he intend September 2024 to be the deadline for this investigation, and if not, what is his expectation for the timeline of this investigation?

Hon Andrew Bayly: As set out in my open letter to the banking sector, I have requested an update due by the end of September 2024 on an investigation of a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorised payment scams.
