38232 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to WPQ 37400, on his 29 February 2024 letter to banks recommending that they investigate a voluntary reimbursement scheme for victims of authorized payment scams in line with international best practice, can the Minister confirm that he intended the United Kingdom to be included as an international best practice?

Hon Andrew Bayly: As noted by the New Zealand Banking Association, they are investigating such a scheme currently, prompted by my open letter. I will await their review of international best practice due by the end of September this year.
