38230 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What criteria, if any, is used to identify and qualify school bus routes for discontinuation?
Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that it regularly reviews its school bus routes to make sure they comply with school transport policy. For a bus route to be considered for implementation, or for a route to remain viable, there must be eight or more eligible students. In addition, all parts of the route must benefit four or more eligible students. When a route is not viable because there are fewer than eight eligible students, these students may be able to apply for a conveyance allowance to assist with their transport costs.
