38198 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: Does the Minister believe that $103 million for Health NZ’s infrastructure cost-pressures is sufficient?

Hon Nicola Willis: The $103.139 million in funding for a central health capital risk contingency pool provided through Budget 2024 will enable Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora to manage new cost pressures arising in projects approved in Budget 2022 or earlier. This investment is in addition to $5.75 billion already appropriated for investment in health capital. I expect that Health New Zealand’s investment planning processes become increasingly robust and incorporate appropriate project specific risk contingencies. This should reduce the risk of projects requiring central funding for cost pressures.
