38135 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Revenue: How many overseas-based New Zealanders, if any, currently have student debt with interest?

Hon Simon Watts: Officials advise as at 31 July, there were 113,630 overseas-based borrowers. 76,212 of those borrowers will also have late payment interest charged on the overdue amounts, in addition to the standard interest charges.
