38132 (2025). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What, if anything, will be the weighting for the internal versus external proportion of each subject at the different levels for the new schooling qualification system announced 4 August 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: The proposed changes to NCEA are currently being consulted on until 15 September 2025. The weighting for the internal versus external assessments will depend on what is most appropriate for the subject, and this is yet to be determined. The feedback received through the consultation will inform the approach.
