38080 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: How many tenants displaced from cancelled Kāinga Ora developments since December 2023, if any, are currently on the public housing register?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that when a tenant is required to move from a property as the property is needed for redevelopment, a suitable alternative property is found for the tenant. I am also advised that Kainga Ora – Homes and Communities is unable to provide the number of tenants displaced from cancelled Kāinga Ora developments since December 2023, as this information is not centrally recorded. Providing the Member with the data requested would require substantial collation and engagement and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
