38072 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: What new decisions, if any, have been made since December 2023 to reduce the share of social housing in the planned developments at Hobsonville Point, Northcote, Roskill, Oranga, Māngere, Tāmaki, Lakeside, and Te Rā Nui, broken down by urban development large-scale project?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities advises me that no social housing is planned for the Hobsonville Point and Lakeside Developments, and that the delivery of social housing in Northcote is complete. As part of the pipeline review undertaken by Kāinga Ora to ensure it is getting best value for money and delivering houses in the areas of greatest need, some social housing projects planned in the Mangere, Roskill and Te Ra Nui Developments are no longer proceeding. In Oranga, some changes in typologies from apartments to larger family homes will see a minor decrease in yield. Decisions were also made in Budget 2025 to withdraw Housing Acceleration Fund funding for future neighborhoods in the Mangere and Roskill Developments. While this will result in a lower yield in some areas, social housing developments that are still progressing will result in a net increase compared to before works began.
