38023 (2025). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: What number of jobs is the Minister expecting when she claims, “jobs are coming”?

Hon Louise Upston: Treasury forecasts (BEFU 2025) labour market conditions to begin improving from the September 2025 quarter. Employment growth is forecast from this quarter although is expected to be subdued. Treasury have forecast employment growth of 1.5 percent to the year ending June 2026. This is roughly around 40,000 extra jobs. Treasury also forecasts a 240,000 increase in jobs over the next four years as growth starts returning to the economy,
