38009 (2025). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Minister for Food Safety: On what date, if any, did the Ministry for Primary Industries first engage with relevant unions regarding potential changes to export meat inspection services?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) advises it had first engaged with the Professional Verifiers’ Institute (PVI), who represents government employed veterinary verifiers, on work to review the inspection and supervision requirements for exported meat on 19 February 2025. MPI also engaged with the PSA on the same matter on 21 July 2025.
