37997 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: Since 2023, what specific criteria, frameworks, or tools has the Department of Corrections used to assess the effectiveness of its rehabilitation and reintegration services?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Each year I table the Department of Corrections’ latest Annual Report. This includes the Rehabilitation Quotient, which measures the impact that Corrections’ interventions have on re-offending. I am advised that Corrections also measures the effectiveness of interventions by undertaking quality monitoring and assurance processes, and more in-depth evaluations and reviews. I am further advised that in the last 12 months, Corrections has undertaken a piece of work to optimise their services. This work sought to understand the most effective methods of providing rehabilitation services to the wider prison population and those in the community.
