37996 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: In the Department’s recent review of rehabilitation and reintegration programmes, was Prisoners Aid and Rehabilitation Society Otago invited to submit data, evidence, or a service proposal for its transitional housing initiative?
Hon Mark Mitchell: No. I am advised that Corrections did review the proposal submitted by PARS Otago to expand their services, however as they do not currently have unallocated funding available to establish new rehabilitation and reintegration services, PARS Otago was not funded.
I am further advised that Corrections will continue to ensure that they are able to effectively support the rehabilitation and reintegration needs of those they manage, delivering on their organisational outcomes while ensuring the best use of their funding.
This is also my response to WPQ 37998 (2025) and WPQ 38235 (2025).
