37891 (2024). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Why have the Association of Teachers of English had no communication with the Minister despite having written two letters to the Minister in December 2023 and April 2024?

Hon Erica Stanford: I have been advised by the Ministry of Education that the New Zealand Association of Teachers of English (NZATE) was in phone and email communication with Ministry officials in December 2023 and subsequently. I received a letter from NZATE in January, which I noted, and a letter in April 2024, which I responded to on 17 June 2024. It is not unusual for Ministry officials to communicate with a stakeholder on my behalf, especially in matters of technical expertise or where the Ministry is leading relevant work.
