Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Is the Minister concerned by the statement made by Kieran Gainsford when referring to the rewrite of the English Curriculum that teachers have been taken by surprise by the fact that there even was a writing group doing this work in the first place; if not, why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: The role of the Ministerial Advisory Group was to review and provide advice on the refreshed English, mathematics and statistics learning areas. Their report makes clear that changes need to be made. As the Member is aware, in early May 2024, I spoke about expert writing groups, including in written parliamentary questions and during the Education Annual Review debate. I refer the Member to written parliamentary questions 9449 and 9451 (2024).
