37878 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Agriculture: Has the Minister requested or received any advice about changing, or reducing, the 2030 biogenic methane target currently legislated in the Climate Change Response Act?

Hon Todd McClay: Hon Simon Watts, Minister of Climate Change and I have received advice on establishing an independent panel to review biogenic methane science and targets. This panel will provide independent evidence-based advice on what our legislated methane target should be, to ensure no additional warming. It’s important that we do not pre-empt this advice of the panel.
