37866 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister of Local Government: What advice, reports, briefings, documents or correspondence has the Minister or any member of his office had, if any, on a government contribution towards the costs of council amalgamations and what advice is the Minister seeking or expecting on the matter?

Hon Simon Watts: I have not received advice on government contribution towards the costs of council amalgamations. The Government is assessing Head Start proposals and will consider support for amalgamating councils during the detailed design phase.
